On January 10, 2007, Jules Pagano was elected as a member of the Economic Policy Institute’s (EPI) Board of Directors.
Jules has long been associated with EPI. As Vice President of American Income Life and Executive Director of AIL’s Labor Advisory Board, he’s worked closely with several of EPI’s founding board members, including two former Labor Secretaries: Ray Marshall and Robert Reich; American Prospect editor Bob Kuttner; Northeastern University professor Barry Bluestone; and EPI Founding President Jeff Faux.
Bernard Rapoport started American Income Life Insurance Co. in the early 1950s. Jules plans, staffs and administers AIL’s relationship with unions, associations, credit unions and the federal government. Previously, he served as president of the Saybrook Institute (CA), a graduate institution of education; chair and a chief judge of the New York State Unemployment Insurance Appeal Board; vice president of Bard College (NY); provost of Simon Rock College (MA); president of Massachusetts Community College Systems and vice president of Florida International University. He also served as Executive Director of the Adult Education Association; director of Adult Education for the U.S. Office of Education; director of training for the Peace Corps; and director, Education Department, Communications Workers of America.
Jules Pagano received his doctor of public administration and master’s degrees from Nova University (FL), and was a Senior Fulbright Scholar, University of London. His undergraduate studies were at St. John’s College of Annapolis (MD).
